Antonio Citterio - 1950 -

Antonio Citterio completed his studies in architecture at the Milan Polytechnic, and since 1972 he has worked with Italian and international companies as a product and industrial designer.


In 1981 he started his practice in architecture and interior design. Together with Terry Dwan from 1987 to 1996, he worked on several architectural projects in Europe and Japan, developing retail and commercial interiors.


Among their more prominent joint projects are a commercial and administrative complex in Seregno (Milan), the Esprit headquarters in Milan, Amsterdam and Antwerp, a furniture factory for Vitra in Germany and a factory for fashion production in Corsico, Milan.


In 1999 “Antonio Citterio and Partners” was founded in Milan by Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel as a multidisciplinary practice and in April 2000 a new headquarters in Milan were opened.

Since 1999 Antonio Citterio has been teaching at the Academy of Architecture of the Università della Svizzera Italiana (Mendrisio, Switzerland). He has been a visiting professor at the Domus Academy of Milan and the “La Sapienza” University of Rome; he regularly gives lectures and holds conferences worldwide. He has been on various juries and committees.


Among awards received are the Milan Triennale’s “Compasso d’Oro” in 1987 and 1995.

The tableware collection “Tools Citterio 2000” designed for Hackman is part of the permanent design collection at the Architecture and Design Museum in Chicago.
