Marimekko
Marimekko which translates as "Mary's frock" became a familiar name around the world when Jacqueline Kennedy was photographed wearing Marimekko outfits in the early 1960s. Marimekko produces a large variety of prints in vivid colors which are in sharp contrast to the grey of the Finnish landscape during the winter months. The company, founded in 1951 by Armi Ratia, now produces a collection of unusually textured fabrics sold by the metre for decorating homes and offices as well as the dresses for which it became famous. Equally important are the bags and interior accessories included as part of the Schiang Collection. |
